Examinations and Cleanings
Dental Examinations
Dental examinations help to diagnose disease before it becomes hazardous to your health. In addition, regular examinations can save you money by alleviating problems while they are small and before they become expensive to repair--or, in some cases, impossible to repair. Your dental examinations generally include the following:
- Oral cancer screening
- Gum disease evaluation (including periodontal charting, if needed)
- Visual examination of tooth decay - Examination of diagnostic x-rays to find cysts, tumors, invisible decay, and other problems not visible or apparent to the naked eye
- Evaulation of the current status of restorations (fillings, crowns, etc.)
We cannot express enough how important it is to see your dentist regularly. Remember, preventing disease is always better than treating disease.
Preventative
Oral Hygiene Care
Maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the most important things you can do for your teeth and gums. Healthy teeth not only enable you to look and feel good, they make it possible to eat and speak properly. Good oral health is important to your overall well-being. Daily preventive care, including proper brushing and flossing, will help stop problems before they develop.
Teeth Grinding & Your Health
Teeth Grinding
Known by the clinical name of Bruxism, teeth grinding is the act of clenching one’s teeth. Whether conscious or unconscious, during the day or while asleep, Bruxism is both a medical and dental problem, as its effects reach the teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures. The most common form of teeth-grinding occurs during sleep, and medical professionals believe that it is as common as snoring.
